Venom Inc There's Only Black Review

Released on September 23, 2022, "There's only Black" is Venom Inc.'s sophomore album following 2017s "Ave." The songs come at you with menacing brutality, cunning songwriting and riveting arrangements that keep your interest for close to an hour.

Venom Inc. comprises former Venom members Demolition Man and Mantas along with their new drummer War Machine.

Clocking in at almost an hour "There's Only Black" the songs are relentless and aggressive. The riffs rip right through you like a chainsaw through your bones.

"How Many Can Die" sets the album ablaze with heavy, vicious riffs. "Infinitum" moves things along and has a cool groove and is a little trippy.

"Come to Me" continues the brutality with a great mid-section and guitar solo.

"There's Only Black" is a new breakneck beast of a metal classic. It is a song about a near death experience by guitarist Mantas.

"Tyrant" slows things down a bit with a nice sluggish groove. "Don't Tell Me your Lies" is a schizophrenic brood which starts off with a guitar phrase soaked in phase shifting and delay. Then heavy guitars kick in. A lot of superb changes in this song with some stellar harmonized riffs.

"Man of God" is a thrashy, wicked wallop. "Burn, Liar, Burn" starts off slow but kicks in midway. "Nine" and "Rampant" keep up with the metal savagery. "The Dance" is an ominous, slow dirge that gives you the feeling that something is not quite right.

"Inferno" closes out the album and is an onslaught of blackened metal at its finest. It reminds me of old Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow.

Finally, "There's Only Black" is an energetic and nefarious adventure. The guide to cracking the albums shadowy unknown is through Mantas' fierce riffs and Demolition Mans blasting growls.
